Nomadic & Semi-Nomadic Tribes Development
A government-supported initiative to uplift nomadic communities through education, scholarships, skill development, and legal awareness in Chickballapur district.
Improving Lives of Nomadic Communities
The Nomadic & Semi-Nomadic Tribes Development Program is a government initiative to improve educational prospects and overall living standards. It raises literacy rates, provides scholarships, builds residential schools, and secures reservations in private colleges.
In Chickballapur district, over 4,000 students study in government and non-government schools and more than 1,000 at PU level — yet 90% remain unaware of available scholarships from 5th to degree level.
Key Program Areas
Comprehensive support covering education, infrastructure, and community development for nomadic tribes.
Literacy & Scholarships
Pre-metric and post-metric scholarships at elementary, middle, high school, and college levels for students from nomadic families.
Residential Schools
Karnataka identified 11 schools in Chickballapur for residential tribal schools with separate hostels for boys and girls — implementation still pending.
Computer Literacy
98% of high school and college-level students lack basic computer skills. Targeted programs bridge this critical digital divide.
Private College Reservations
95% of students are unaware of free education in private institutions. Advocacy ensures reservations and fee concessions for bachelor's programs.
Community Development
Recognition, proper colonies, roads, sanitation, drinking water, and community centres across all 6 taluks of Chickballapur district.
Skill & Livelihood
Job-oriented skill training to strengthen financial stability for tribal families who lack access to sustainable livelihoods.
2012–2013 Program Highlights
Significant milestones achieved in identifying and supporting tribal students across Chickballapur district.
Critical Issues Requiring Attention
Despite government orders and schemes, many tribal rights continue to be denied. SVVG Trust actively advocates to bridge this gap.
School Admissions Denied
Students from nomadic tribes are being denied admissions to prestigious schools despite government orders granting them this right.
Advisory Committee Inactive
The State's mandatory advisory committee for tribal socio-economic issues has not met in over two years, violating the quarterly meeting requirement.
11 Schools Not Implemented
Karnataka's Education Department identified 11 schools across Chickballapur for residential tribal schools — none have been implemented to date.
No Permanent Settlement
60% of the 50,000+ tribal population lacks proper homes or sites. Precise land allotment is urgently needed across all 6 taluks.
